Why did the Wilcox’s start The Green Shack? In 2009 their family moved to Dodge Center and decided it was time to start growing their family. In 2010 their son Alekzander was born and following him was their daughter Emily in 2013. These two are their world and completed their family (well some animals are in there too 😊). In 2013 the VA determined that Zach was disabled due to his PTSD, depression and anxiety that was brought on from his 15-month deployment with the Army. This was a HUGE relief as it had been a long time getting this diagnosis. In 2018 after struggling with PTSD for over 10 years they finally decided that Zach was in need for more than just anti-depressants and Therapy. They then went to a DO who prescribed medical Cannabis, at this time they also decided it was time to start something that could help their family as well as others. Brittany was able to go back to school to be a Horticulturist at Rochester Community and Technical College since the relief of Zach’s symptoms. While Brittany was in college, they purchased land in Dodge Center and developed their business called The Green Shack. This business is built to focus on the health and wellness of people and the environment that we all live in. When they first started, they had hemp, goats, bees and chickens. During this time hemp was the only cash crop and was propagated and grown indoors for human consumption of CBD products.
Now fast forward to 2020, The Green Shack has CBD 1g pre-rolls, honey from the bees, succulents, outdoor plants (seasonal), chickens, eggs, goats, homemade soap (from goat milk), end grain cutting boards, serving trays, laser custom products on wood or painted tile, holds a wide range classes for all ages and can help you with your landscaping needs where making you more environmentally friendly. The Green Shack is their dream and wanting to build and grow this business to help their family, others and the environment.
